Asian Helpline

NSPCC Asian Child Protection Helpline logo

The Asian  child protection Helpline  is a multilingual service for the UK's South  Asian communities. We provide advice  information as well as counselling to anyone concerned about a child who is at risk of ill treatment or abuse.
Callers can talk to us in English or in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi or Gujarati.

If a child is at risk of harm, we will take action to secure their safety and well being.

History

The Asian child protection Helpline was set up in 2001 as part of the Full stop campaign, this was in response to the work that had been carried out by the NSPCC and others as to why the South Asian communities did not use children’s services, and also to ensure that all children were protected irrespective of their backgrounds.

The South Asian communities make up nearly 5 per cent of the population of the UK, the largest minority ethnic grouping.

In collabortion with some high profile South Asian donors, the ACPH service was set up.

The ACPH is a unique service to the UK, and we have taken over 12,000 calls in the last seven years.
If you have a query  and are not sure if it is a child protection issue, do still give us a call on the Asian helpline. The call is free and you could help protect a child.

What happens when you contact us?

You will be put through to a call handler who will ask you a few questions regarding your enquiry and then passed onto a advisor.

The call handlers do not speak in the South Asian languages so if you wish to talk in a particular language just tell the call handler which language you need to speak in. If that advisor is busy we will provide you with advice so that you are helpled.
