Child abuse is never justified in any society or culture and should always be reported and dealt with.
In this section we offer information in a number of languages to help you identify and deal with abuse affecting you or someone you know.
We wish to reach the many ethnic and cultural groups in the UK and help people from whatever background and in whatever language to take action to protect children.
We will try to arrange for a telephone interpreter if you require help in another language and you do not have someone to interpret for you.
Are you worried about a child who is at risk of abuse or in need of help?
For expert help and advice, call the NSPCC child protection helpline on 0808 800 5000.
Our telephone advisers are all trained child protection officers. Whatever you tell them during your call will be kept confidential.
If you need to talk in a language other than English, ask a trusted friend to speak to us as your interpreter. If you cannot find an interpreter, we can usually provide one for you. Ask for one at the beginning of your call.
If you are deaf or hard of hearing, we have a free textphone service on 0800 056 0566.
Child abuse is when an adult harms a child or young person under the age of 18. This can be physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional cruelty or neglect. Child abuse can cause serious long-term damage to a child, or even death. It can never be justified, in any society or culture.
