The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)

A brief introduction to the ISA by the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit

The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) was created to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.

The Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) was set up under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 which was introduced following the Bichard Inquiry into the murder of two children by a school caretaker in Soham.

Further information on the Vetting and Barring scheme is available on the  ISA website.
