Annette has been Member of Parliament for Mid Dorset and North Poole since 2001. Prior to becoming an MP, she was elected to Poole Borough Council 1986 - 2003, where her positions included Chair of Education and Mayor of Poole.Annette has been a committed supporter of the NSPCC for some years, and has been a leading light for children in Parliament in her role as the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Children, Young People and Families since 2004. She is also Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Children.
She has worked closely with the NSPCC on recent legislation including the Children Act, Sexual Offences Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, Children and Adoption Act, and Childcare Act.
Annette is married with two adult daughters.
