A multi-lingual CD-Rom to take children’s safeguarding to the very heart of black and minority ethnic communities.

Developed by The Safe Network, this innovative CD is for trainers or group leaders working in black and minority ethnic (BME) communities, for use with parents, carers, community groups, staff and volunteers.

It aims to raise awareness of children's safeguarding issues and the role and responsibilities of the organisations involved in keeping children safe.

It will give participants the opportunity to share and learn about ways in which children can be kept safe and childcare practices that may help or harm a child's development, helping them to recognise abusive behaviours and acting to prevent them.

The CD-Rom is structured around three generic training modules:

  • Module one features a range of activities that help participants to recall childhood experiences and the way they have affected their opinions on how children are cared for now.
  • Module two features a range of activities that are designed to raise awareness about core aspects of child abuse in a cultural and legal context.
  • Module three features a range of activities that help participants to identify and strengthen practices in the family and community that protect children from harm, and offers guidance on where they can find support.

All resources are in English, French, Chinese, Urdu, Bengali and Arabic.
