By Judith Masson with Deborah McGovern, Kathy Pick and Maureen Winn Oakley (2007)Protecting powers: emergency intervention for children's protection is part of the NSPCC Wiley series in safeguarding children.
This publication provides a critical account of current practice in emergency child protection, identifying good practice and making proposals for reform.
Based on two emergency intervention research projects there are three themes in the book:
A detailed picture of practice is drawn for social workers, police officers, magistrates’ legal advisers or magistrates and of the lawyers who advise social workers and parents. Going beyond an account of what happens to explore the perceptions, understandings and experiences of practitioners making emergency intervention decisions.
