By Ruth Gardner (2005)
Supporting families: child protection in the community is a title in the NSPCC Wiley series in safeguarding children.
Supporting families reports on the findings of a large-scale, two year evaluation study conducted by the NSPCC with families in difficulty to explore the content and effectiveness of family support services.
Looking at the services from all stakeholder perspectives - children, parents and staff - the author presents the findings of the study and asks to what extent specific problems such as parental stress, vulnerability, isolation and child behaviour were resolved over six months of interventions including group work, parent training and volunteer home visiting.
