Network for Research on Children, Young People and Families
Welcome to the Child Research Network
Do you work on research relating to children, young people and families? Are you a practitioner undertaking research in this field? Would you like to be part of a research network for professionals?
The NSPCC facilitates an informal network for those working in academic and professional research settings and in the statutory and voluntary sector.
What are the aims of the Network?
To bring together academic, professional and practitioner researchers involved in research on children, young people and families to promote the sharing of ideas and information and create an environment that will support mutual learning.
To provide opportunities to network with researchers with similar interests.
To encourage collaborative and cross-disciplinary research amongst the broad membership of the Network.
To offer a regular seminar programme. To provide a supportive and knowledgeable environment within which both experienced and new researchers can present and gain feedback on work in progress or work completed. For practitioner researchers in particular, the Network will help to create an approach to peer review.
What does membership of the Network offer?
- By joining the Network you will have the opportunity to attend regular seminars with presentations on a range of topics related to research on children, young people and families. Seminars may be on findings and implications of completed research, current research, methodological or ethical issues. All seminars offer opportunities for group discussion and networking. Would you like to make a presentation?
Our last seminar (Child sexual abuse: exploring diverse dimensions) took place 1 October 2008 in London. Details of our next meeting will be available soon.
- Our private members website contains information about forthcoming meetings, previous speaker presentations and meeting minutes. Our private site also provides an opportunity for researchers to advertise their current projects and includes a directory of members' research interests and contact details. Log on to the private site or contact us if you would like to become a member.
Who can become a member?
Anyone who works on research relating to children, young people and families is eligible to join. We are also keen to encourage practitioners who have an interest in research or who may be undertaking research as part of their work or further education to join. You may also join the Network if you are undertaking a Masters or PhD in the research area. Unfortunately we are not able to cater for undergraduate students.
