Cumbria's working youngsters

Making the legislation work

Front cover of Cumbria's working youngstersBy Jim McKechnie, Seonaid Anderson and Sandy Hobbs (September 2007)

Cumbria's working youngsters: making the legislation work (PDF, 744KB) examines the current systems for monitoring and protecting young employees in the workplace.

It is a joint report published by the NSPCC, Cumbria County Council and the University of Paisley Child Employment Research Group.

Our research report presents the findings of a sample study of Year 10 and Year 11 pupils in five schools across Cumbria, looking at their awareness of the work permit system and the number of children who are working illegally.
