A leaflet about the relationship between fractures and physical abuse

Fractures in children (PDF, 260KB)  is the second in a series of information leaflets on aspects of physical child abuse based on a collaborative project by the NSPCC and the Welsh Child Protection Systematic Review Group at the Department of Child Health, Cardiff University.

This leaflet summarises what is currently known about the relationship between fractures and physical abuse and will be of particular interest to paediatricians, general practitioners, radiologists, accident and emergency doctors, orthopaedic surgeons, social workers, police and legal practitioners.

The Welsh Child Protection Systematic Review Group are engaged in a rolling programme of systematic reviews of published research literature on aspects of physical child abuse.

Information about this and the project's other systematic reviews - on bruises, bites and oral injuries, burns and scalds, non-accidental head injuries, and abdominal injuries, as well as the reviews and annual updates - can be found at www.core-info.cardiff.ac.uk
