- Evaluation of the Women’s Aid Children’s Services Fund for the Scottish Government

This evaluation, commissioned by the Scottish Executive, includes an analysis of reporting returns; interviews with key stakeholders; 15 case studies in ten sample projects, and a questionnaire to collect data from children and young people who have received a service provided by the Fund.
- The experiences of children and young people in sport settings in the UK
Dr Anne Stafford, Kate Alexander and Catherine Burns (University of Edinburgh)
This research study, which runs until 2009, includes a survey and qualitative follow up interviews with young adult students, exploring both their positive and negative experiences of sport, including experiences of abuse.
- Good practice in engaging with children and young people with experience of domestic abuse
Anne Stafford (University of Edinburgh)
This project, funded by the Scottish Executive, involves the development of guidance on good practice in engaging with children and young people who have experience of domestic abuse. This guidance will be circulated alongside the National (Scottish) Domestic Abuse Delivery Plan being produced by the Scottish Executive.
- How is the concept of resilience operationalised in work with vulnerable children

This research, funded by the British Academy, is being jointly conducted with the University of Stirling, Barnardo's in Scotland and the University of South Australia. It is examining how practitioners translate the concept of resilience into practice.
- Towards a comparative analysis of child protection policy across the UK

This key project will produce an overview of child protection across the UK. It involves a comparative analysis of all relevant child protection policy documents relating to England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, including child protection guidance, child protection statistics, and the legislative, assessment and decision-making frameworks. The project will highlight current priorities and concerns amongst policy makes, and identify the main drivers for change in the future.

- Vetting and barring in Scotland

The purpose of this research is to provide an improved understanding of the developments of the vetting and barring regimes across Scotland, and the consequences of these reforms. This includes an analysis of relevant legislation and policy developments.
