By Kate Fitch (March 2009)Teenagers at risk: the safeguarding needs of young people in gangs and violent peer groups (PDF, 252KB) aims to open a more balanced debate on “gang culture”.
It explores the true prevalence of gun and knife possession and examines the risk factors that can underpin group-based offending behaviour and how these affect the safeguarding needs of the children and young people involved.
Findings are based on academic research, government statistics, media reports, and discussions with practitioners from the NSPCC Peckham Schools Team.
