NSPCC services to protect children under one

NSPCC services for children under one
Children aged under one year are an NSPCC priority.

The NSPCC is working in partnerships with health services and adult social services to run four new programmes to help new parents cope with challenges of parenthood, develop secure relationships with their babies and care for them safely.

Pregnancy and infancy offer a unique opportunity to work effectively with families at risk in order to set good parenting patterns for the future and break the cycle of abuse and poor parenting.

These services will robustly evaluated and we will share what we learn. We will be commissioning further research and development work, so that evidence-based interventions can be delivered to more families across the UK.

The NSPCC services to protect children under one are:

Preventing Non-accidental Head Injuries in Babies

A midwife-led universal hospital-based education programme for parents of all newborn babies.

Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond

A group-based parent education programme for vulnerable parents expecting their first child.

Minding the Baby

An intensive home visiting programme for vulnerable first time mothers under 25 and their babies.

Parents Under Pressure
