What we do

CHIPS - ChildLine in Partnerships

Young mediators CHIPS provides an opportunity for a national network of schools and youth organisations to share ideas and good practice.

We do this through regular mailings, contact by letter and telephone, the newsletter CHIPS Chat, and our electronic newsletter. Enrol with CHIPS to receive our e-newsletter.

Raising awareness

The CHIPS programme raises awareness about ChildLine’s work and the issues young people face. We do this in a variety of ways: presentations, workshops, conferences, consultation, resources, work experience placements and visits to ChildLine bases.

Workshops and seminars

CHIPS offers very popular seminars and workshops on a wide range of issues, including bullying, self-harm and peer support. For further information contact your local CHIPS coordinator .

Conferences

CHIPS runs UK-wide conferences and events for children and young people as well as adults. Our conferences address a wide variety of issues, including bullying .

Peer support

Our UK-wide team of CHIPS outreach workers offers advice, support, information and training in the setting up and development of peer support schemes in schools and other organisations.

CHIPS offers a package of help including:

training and support to staff planning on setting up peer support schemes
a range of resources to assist in the set up of a peer support scheme
training for young people acting as peer supporters
ongoing support to schools and organisations running peer support.

Consultancy

CHIPS provides help to schools, organisations and local authorities who are developing policies such as those on anti-bullying.

Training

As well as the training of pupils and professionals in setting up peer support programmes the CHIPS team also provide training in other areas. We offer these to teachers and professionals, young people and other interested parties on a variety of issues that affect young people today.

Participation

CHIPS constantly seeks the views of young people on our work through consultation such as focus groups. We also offer children and young people the opportunity to get involved more directly with ChildLine through work experience.

Fundraising
