Safe Communities Project

Influencing local authorities and national governments, Local Safeguarding Children Boards and funding bodies

We will be working at several levels to influence policy and practice so that community groups are fully supported in keeping children safe. The Safe Communities Project is being fully evaluated and the results of  this will inform discussion and learning about keeping children safe when they are participating in organised activities.

In order to ensure that all children in England and Wales are kept safe when participating in organised social and leisure activities, we will:

  • share our learning with policy makers
  • lobby decision makers
  • campaign
  • brief the media.

At the end of this three-year project , we aim to have changed policy and practice, so that all organised community activities for children and young people have essential safeguards in place to prevent abuse.
