The Staying Safe Commitment Scheme

The scheme is open to organisations in England and Wales, from the voluntary, community, charity and commercial sectors, which provide activities or services for children and young people, such as:

  • after school activities
  • creative pursuits
  • faith-based activities
  • performing arts and entertainments
  • media activities
  • web based services
  • recreation and leisure activities
  • vocational activities
  • any other activities or services provided by the voluntary, charity, community or commercial sectors that are specifically for children and young people
  • or activities or services that are aimed at parents but which bring organisations into contact with children.

Organisations that are delivering services or provide activities across the UK or wider are welcome to contact us for a further discussion about the scheme's applicability to their organisation as we can offer flexibility in some circumstances.

The scheme is not available to those organisations working wholly within Northern Ireland as an alternative accreditation scheme is legislated for and due to become live.

The scheme is currently not open to organisations within the statutory sector, as identified in sections 11 and 28 of the Children Act 2004, as these organisations are already under a legal duty to safeguard children.
