Communicating with children

A one-day course for practitioners

Aim

To help workers explore their own creativity and enable them to use this in communicating with children and to promote an inclusive approach to working with children.

Objectives

The course is designed to enable you to:

  • define communication with children and understand the statutory requirements to engage with children and young people
  • describe the barriers and inhibitors to effective communication
  • describe the key factors in promoting inclusive practice
  • describe key factors in establishing a safe environment in which children can communicate
  • develop skills in creative communication techniques.
