Safer recruitment: risk assessments and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks

A training course for anyone undertaking risk assessments when dealing with positive CRB checks


This course will help organisations improve their recruitment procedures, understand CRB checks and learn how to assess information about potential employees or volunteers. This training will have a particular focus on safeguarding children's welfare in the context of safer recruitment.

Course aim

To enable participants to become familiar with their role and responsibilities in the context of safer recruitment and develop competence and confidence in carrying out this safeguarding role. 

Course objectives
  

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • identify how information arises on a CRB disclosure
  • analyse the information on a CRB disclosure
  • risk assess CRB disclosures containing concerning content  
  • explain the role of the CRB in relation to the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).

Who should attend?

The training has been developed to meet the needs of community and voluntary sector agencies providing services to children and young people.

This is a one day course. The cost is £160 per person (including lunch and refreshments).
