Buy this resource from NSPCC Publications
Staff in schools and further education colleges are uniquely placed to be someone to turn to for children and young people requiring support and advice, and to help protect them from harm.
The Safety in learning training pack provides all the resources, on CD-Rom and DVD, for the designated person/child protection coordinator to deliver safeguarding children induction or refresher training to all staff working in their school or college.
The updated (2011) version contains a revised course structure, trainer notes, handouts and slides and a handout on e-safety. The DVD includes two short films that support learning by providing information and the views of a range of staff in schools and colleges.
Safety in learning, one of two short films, introduces safeguarding and features a range of staff who work in schools and colleges talking about why safeguarding children and young people is important.
The DVD also includes seventeen short case studies, covering the different types of abuse and neglect to promote discussion and provide decision-making opportunities.
The content is relevant in all phases – from settings with nursery-age children through to sixth forms and further education colleges.
It is an appropriate resources for education settings in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
