What is the course about?

This course will give you the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in the effective interviewing and support of vulnerable child witnesses.

What level is the course and do I need any specific skills?

This is an advanced level course. It is recommended that you complete our Conducting section 47 enquiries course first, though this is not compulsory.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of the guidance and the relevant legislation in relation to your role and responsibilities

  • describe the key child development theories that may have an impact on a child witness

  • demonstrate skills in the interviewing of vulnerable/intimidated witnesses in accordance with the guidance framework

  • recognise and apply the principles of multi-agency working

  • develop strategies for planning and co-ordinating interviews

  • describe the requirements for the support and preparation of witnesses

  • recognise the emotional impact of the work and identify support systems.

We can deliver Achieving best evidence training to your organisation at a venue of your choice and to a timescale that suits your requirements.

We can also develop or modify a course specifically to meet your organisation's needs.
