What is the course about?

Decision making that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children's needs based on sound professional judgement.  This course will explore a model of working that will further develop and enhance analytical skills, professional judgement and decision making.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for practitioners working in the safeguarding arena who are making or contributing to assessments, as well as their supervisors or managers.

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • consider the impact of values on professional practice

  • demonstrate an understanding of types of theory, knowledge and experience used in analysis and professional judgement and the value accorded to each type

  • describe key issues and criteria in the use of research and in evidence-based practice

  • identify effective frameworks for weighing and analysing information

  • state appropriate sources of evidence to support analysis, professional judgement and decision-making

  • develop an action plan to support the application of the learning at an individual and agency level.
