Those who have specific responsibilities for child protection in their organisation would find it helpful to attend a designated persons training course:
Within universal and statutory services (i.e. Education, Health, Early Years, etc) child protection training has a mandatory refresher period of two years for Lead/Designated officers and three years for other staff. The NSPCC also offers a child protection update course
Many other settings adopt the 3-yearly refresher training requirement to ensure their knowledge and skills are consistent with partner agencies, as recommended in government guidance Working together to safeguard children (2010, chapter 4). .
