  • identify the relevant legislation and guidance that provides the framework for safeguarding young people

  • identify barriers to children and adults reporting concerns.

What level is the course and do I need any specific skills?

This is a beginner course and you need no specific child protection skills.

How will I be taught?

You will receive face-to-face learning from experienced professionals.

A range of methods will be used to help to build up skills and knowledge and there will be opportunities to think about attitudes. Methods include formal input, large and small group discussions, working with case scenarios and use of DVD materials.

When I’ve finished, what course  do you suggest next?

Those who have specific responsibilities for child protection in their organisation would find it helpful to attend a designated persons training course.

Your child protection knowledge should be updated at a minimum every three years (sooner if you have designated responsibility). The NSPCC offers a child protection update training course.

We offer a wide range of child protection and safeguarding training courses  at our training centres across the UK.

We're also able to develop or modify a course specifically to meet your organisation's needs. If you can't find what you're looking for, please contact us
