What is the course about?

This course will cover the types and the impact of bullying on children and young people, and how organisations can develop strategies to ensure children and young people are safe from bullying.

Who is this course for?

Everyone whose work brings them into contact with children and young people. This includes employees and volunteers.

What level is the course and do I need any specific skills?

You should have completed a basic child protection course.  We offer basic awareness training: see our other training courses.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • identify what is meant by the term bullying

  • name the indicators and types of bullying

  • be able to identify the impact of bullying

  • describe the risk and resilience of children and young people who bully and who are being bullied

  • challenge your own and your organisations' values and attitudes towards bullying of children and young people

  • state the main tenets of your organisation's bullying policy and procedure

  • describe strategies to address the bullying of children and young people within your organisation.

How will I be taught?

Through face-to-face learning from experienced professionals.

A range of methods will be used to help to build up skills and knowledge and there will be opportunities to think about attitudes. Methods include formal input, large and small group discussions, working with case scenarios and use of DVD materials.

We can deliver training on Essential awareness and response to bullying of children and young people to your organisation at a venue of your choice and to a timescale that suits your requirements.

We can also develop or modify a course specifically to meet your organisation's needs.
