What is the course about?

This course will help you learn about groups and develop your practice in working with groups. No prerequisite skills in group work are required

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • plan and organise a group work programme

  • identify and describe group dynamics and processes

  • demonstrate a range of group work techniques and identify resources

  • identify key roles and manage power dynamics in group work

  • consolidate your skills in group facilitation and develop new skills.

How will I be taught?

This course is experiential, with a focus on self-reflection. Participants use their experience of being a member of a learning group as an essential starting point for thinking about group work.

Flexible delivery

We can deliver groupwork skills training to your organisation at a venue of your choice and to a timescale that suits your requirements

We can also develop or modify this course specifically to meet your organisation's needs.

Our groupwork skills course can be adapted to provide an opportunity for experienced group work practitioners to refresh and develop their skills.

It can also be adapted so that it focuses on working within a particular group context, for example: Groups for parents or Groups for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.
