The Challenge in 2006

From 7-11 June 2006, 120 teams from top UK businesses competed against the stunning backdrop of the Clyde Coast of Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran.

The challenges they faced ranged from building water wheels on the seafront at dusk, to running uphill on arduous and boggy terrain after kayaking and mountain biking around the magnificent Loch Braden. Teams also found themselves tossing the caber, running and stilt-walking over the beautiful Isle of Arran. As you can imagine, the atmosphere was electric as teams celebrated their achievements in the party that followed.

Thanks to Microsoft's sponsorship of the event, and their ongoing relationship with the NSPCC, participating teams came together to raise vital funds for the NSPCC in the months before the event. In total £430,000 was raised to protect vulnerable children and young people from abuse and neglect. Fundraising activities ranged from cake sales to fun-runs, and even speed dating evenings. Microsoft entered six teams and won the overall corporate fundraising trophy, raising a phenomenal £100,000 collectively. Meanwhile, Dell took home the individual fundraising trophy having raised over £10,000.

The commitment shown by participating teams was fantastic and the money raised makes a huge difference to the NSPCC and the children we help.
