Helen and Chris celebrate Lucy May's christening

On 17 June 2007, Helen and Chris celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Lucy May, with their family and friends. As with the birth of their first daughter, Helen and Chris encouraged people to make charitable donations rather than give gifts. However, this time they made use of our special donation cards which they discovered on the website. Helen tells us more:

My husband and I felt that when our daughter was born we were very fortunate to be overwhelmed with gifts and cards.  This made us think we would probably get the same response for the christening and so it would be a good idea to channel this generosity to a good cause. We had simply asked for donations to the NSPCC for our first daughter’s christening in 2004 but had seen on the website this time that you did donation cards.  This helped us to explain to people what we wanted instead of gifts. We did get a very positive response, particularly from our friends and had our certificate framed on the wall.  It’s a great reminder of the day.”

The family raised £170 from their celebration which could pay for an after school group. This group allows children and young people to interact with other children their age and also to develop key social skills.
