Elaine and John tied the knot on 21 April 2007. Having agreed that they already had all the items they needed to start their married life, the couple felt that helping a charity close to their heart would be the perfect wedding present. John and Elaine used our donation cards to ask their friends and family to donate to the NSPCC instead of buying them a gift. Their guests generously donated a fantastic £685 in total!
“We had a wonderful wedding day made even better in the knowledge that instead of receiving more tea towels and toasters we were contributing to such a good cause. Everybody was really pleased to contribute and it made for a wonderful celebration.”
The money that Elaine and John raised could cover the freephone call costs for one ChildLine counsellor for a year and a half. This is invaluable for children as it means that a child can contact the service in the confidence that it will not show on the phone bill, allowing them to be as honest as necessary.
