One-to-one fundraising
A streetwise way of helping children
To inspire and reach new supporters, we sometimes speak to people on a one to one basis. Find out more about this type of fundraising and how important it is to the NSPCC.
Over £23 million raised for the NSPCC so far through one to one fundraising!
This method of fundraising helps us to reach new supporters who may not respond to other types of fundraising. One to one fundraising gives people the chance to speak directly to a representative of the NSPCC and ask any questions they may have about the NSPCC or our work before they donate.
There are three types of one to one fundraising.
Face-to-face fundraising
Face-to-face fundraisers talk to people on the high street. If you are approached by one of our fundraisers, you may be asked to set up a regular gift to the NSPCC.
"If we get lots of individuals doing a small amount it can be really powerful" - Carl, team leader, face-to-face fundraising team
Fundraisers like Carl make such a difference to the lives of children at risk of abuse who may not have anyone to turn to. Find out what Carl has to say about his role at the NSPCC.
Why do you work for the NSPCC?
I remember the adverts from when I was young and was always moved by them. I have a son now so it’s even more poignant.
What does your job involve?
Organising my team, getting them motivated and training them to be the best fundraisers possible. On the street the teams talk to as many people as possible about the vital work of the NSPCC and why our fundraising is so important.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
The weather. But it can also be the best part as well when the sun is shining. When it’s cold and wet and your trousers are soaked it’s not cool.

Venue fundraising
The NSPCC has stands at venues including supermarkets, shopping centres and transport terminals.
Fundraisers are able to approach a larger number of people during the day, and have the room to display more information about our work.
Door-to-door fundraising
Door-to-door fundraisers visit you at home to offer information about NSPCC campaigns and to ask whether you can support our work with a monthly donation.
They’ll generally call in the late afternoon or evenings, as that’s when the majority of people will be at home.
