About the board
The aim of the NSPCC Peterborough Business Support Group is to raise funds to directly benefit vulnerable local children and young people in the Greater Peterborough area.
The group is made up of individuals from a range of industries and sectors who use their influence, skills and commitment to raise funds to directly support NSPCC services in and around Peterborough - and to inspire others to do the same.
Since its formation in 1996, the group has staged dozens of events, engaged with hundreds of businesses and in 2012 reached the amazing milestone of £500,000 raised.
Every year the group organises a range of fundraising events, from balls to quizzes, each raising a substantial amount of money. As well as giving guests a platform to expand their business network they also promote the invaluable work done by the NSPCC.
"No-one can fail to be moved by the stories we hear of vulnerable children being given the chance to enjoy a happy childhood, free of fear. Everyone who comes to one of our events, donates a prize, bids for an auction lot, gives us their time, support or money is helping the charity work towards that in the local area. And while people's motives for getting involved are genuinely altruistic, the reward is the creation of a solid network of business people sharing the same ethics. It is also humbling to see businesses organising their own 'in-house' activities, raising substantial amounts of money to throw into our pot." - Chris Collier, Partner Rawlinsons Accountants.
