Accenture
Accenture has been supporting the NSPCC since 2006 through employee fundraising, gifts from the Accenture Foundation and valuable pro bono work.
Running the London Marathon to raise £250,00
In 2008 and 2009, the NSPCC secured places for teams of over 50 Accenture staff to run the London Marathon. The teams have raised more than £250,000 in sponsorship over the two years - an incredible achievement. As well as individual fundraising, the Accenture marathon teams organised several company fundraising events, including a Christmas Ball which raised a fantastic £25,000, collections on the London Underground, Halloween parties, sweepstakes, cake sales, company donations and football tournaments.
Kristel Sinclair, project manager of the Accenture marathon team said: “Having a team in the London Marathon in 2008 and 2009 was a fantastic way to raise valuable funds for the NSPCC. Everyone in the team worked extremely hard, not only training for the marathon, but also raising the money and achieving our target. I am so proud to have been part of the Accenture running team and delighted that the money raised will go towards helping thousands of children across the UK.”
Pro bono work to help develop the NSPCC Helpline
In addition to raising funds, Accenture have offered valuable pro bono support to the NSPCC. 170 days of work were pledged to the NSPCC in 2007, including two full-time staff committed to work at the NSPCC offices from August to December. In January 2008, two additional Accenture consultants came to work on the NSPCC Helpline development programme as part of the second pledge of pro bono work of 170 days, and this has continued in 2009 with a further 45 days work.
Ian Robinson, senior executive, Accenture (UK) Ltd, said: “We have been supporting the NSPCC since 2006 both through our UK Corporate Citizenship programme and specifically through our employee fundraising schemes and pro bono support on the Helpline development programme. We are absolutely delighted to be in partnership with the NSPCC and to make a real difference to children's lives across the UK.
The pro bono work has been of great value both to Accenture's people and to the Helpline development programme, and we know that our industry expertise has been extremely beneficial to the NSPCC expanding its services in the most efficient manner possible. Accenture have raised over £250,000 through the fundraising of our employees. We are extremely proud to be associated with the NSPCC and to see the value that our corporate partnership brings in helping put an end to child cruelty.”
