Matalan
Matalan has been supporting the NSPCC since 2004 when the company's owner, John Hargreaves, launched the NSPCC Safe Place Appeal at a glittering ball attended by NSPCC ambassador Kylie Minogue.
Since then, The Safe Place Appeal has raised £16.5 million through a combination of public donations, ongoing fundraising by corporate supporters, including Matalan staff, and personal contributions from the Hargreaves family.
The result of this fantastic fundraising effort is the NSPCC Hargreaves Centre in Liverpool, which provides children and young people with a safe place where they can be protected from harm.
Looking ahead
The partnership is now entering its sixth year and Matalan hope to raise over £1million during the next three years through employee fundraising and customer involvement.
With the support of their customers, Matalan will continue to contribute significantly to the NSPCC across the UK. Their fundraising activities range from in-store collections and promoting NSPCC initiatives such as Letter From Santa, to more adventurous activities including skydiving and marathon running.
