Slimming World

Slimming World first adopted the NSPCC as its main charity partner in 2003 and has raised money through its fundraising arm SMILES (Slimmers Making It a Little Easier for Someone).

In 2011, Ben Miles, the son of Slimming World founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell, raised over £100,000 through super-human efforts, when, after a gruelling 18 months of solo training, he cycled, artificial hip and all, more than 6,000km from from Gibraltar to Nordkapp in Norway in just six weeks.

Ben's ride inspired Slimming World members across Britain to get behind the cause, with many even getting on their bikes too. On his way through the UK, slimmers held a series of Parties in the Park to show their support with five fun-day style events. Slimming world members and consultants further boosted the charity coffers by taking part in their own sponsored rides or walks, purchasing a specially created Slimming World Hi-Fi (high fibre) snack bar called Ben's Butterscotch Bar, and turning out to the Parties in the Park in force.

Slimming World raised over £185,000 in 2011 and the partnership continues to go from strength to strength.
