Southern Water

Southern Water logoSouthern Water supplies fresh, quality drinking water to more than one million households and treats and recycles wastewater from nearly two million households across Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Each day the company supplies 468 million litres of drinking water from 90 water treatment works along more than 13,600 kilometres of water mains to customers' taps. It also treats and recycles 1,300 million litres of wastewater at 371 treatment works daily, after it is pumped through a sewer network stretching more than 21,600 kilometres.

Southern Water is owned by Greensands Investments Limited, a consortium made up of pension and infrastructure funds.

Southern Water and the NSPCC

 The NSPCC was first chosen to benefit from the company's support in 2007.  Southern Water have undertaken a variety of initiatives which include:-

  • Purchase of NSPCC Christmas Cards and e-card
  • Donating funds raised through the company's H & S scheme
  • A team in the UK Charity Challenge
  • Raising funds through their annual themed charity ball
  • Raising funds through the company's annual Fontwell Park Race Day
  • Assistance with the making of a DVD to encourage other companies to support NSPCC

 

Southern Water at Fontwell Park Race Course Kevin Buck, Community Officer (Charity Fundraising) said:

"We're delighted our staff choose to continue to support the NSPCC which is a truly worthy cause and we look forward to supporting the charity in the future."

Southern Water were made NSPCC Full Stop Champions in November 2009.  The company were runners up in the CADIA CSR Business Awards 2010/11 following nomination by the NSPCC which acknowledged their strong commitment to help local communities.

To date they have donated almost £124,000 to help children.  The company have also been generous in offering sponsorship of water and funds for various sporting activities and to help with improvement to a local Service Centre garden.

A strong partnership has developed between the NSPCC and Southern Water.
