Thorntons
Thorntons adopted the NSPCC as its charity partner in August 2009 with a target of raising £40,000 in 12 months. To date, the partnership has raised more than £100,000 for children.
In 2009, Thorntons was involved with a range of activities including supporting the NSPCC's Letter from Santa product, and placing collection tins and FULL STOP pin badges at tills in all stores.
In 2010 a team of runners from Thorntons took on the challenge of the Virgin London Marathon in April and another team of employees took on the Coniston Challenge, both raising a fantastic amount for the charity.
2011 was Thorntons 100th birthday with an array of Centenary activities including Cycle 100, where five Thorntons employees cycled 1,200 from John O'Groats to Lands End, visiting 100 Thorntons stores along the way, all of which raised money on the day of the team's visit. Thorntons also held a Gala Day for employees at Thornton Park and then took its Live Mechanical Chocolatier and Chocolate Kabin on a tour of the UK raising money for the charity.
2012 will see a team of Thorntons employees take part in the 2012 Gold Challenge, competing to complete 2012km in celebration of the Olympic year.
Emma Tagg, customer communications manager at Thorntons, said: "Thorntons is proud to be Britain's largest chocolate company and has been making children smile with its chocolate for over a century, so we're delighted to be supporting such great British children's charity in the NSPCC."
