Bupa Great North Run

Date of event:  16 September 2012

NSPCC runner

This iconic race from Newcastle to South Shields is the world's most popular half marathon, with 52,000 runners taking part, and over 500 from the NSPCC's team. The atmosphere on race day is electric and we'll be there to provide you with support before, during, and after the race.

Run for the NSPCC

You can apply and run for the NSPCC in two ways:

  • The general ballot is now open until 8 February. Enter now now for your chance of gaining a place in this popular half marathon. Succesful applicants will be contacted by the organsiers directly.
  • Alternatively register with us directly for a guaranteed place in the race. Sign up today by filling in our guaranteed place online registration form with a £20 registration fee to secure your place on the team.

Minimum sponsorship

We ask that runners using our guaranteed place registration form commit to raising at least £400 to support our work protecting vulnerable children across the UK.

If you secure your place through the public ballot we just ask that you raise as much as you can for children.

Our support

Our runners mean the world to us, so in return we provide:

  • World class training support from our partner Liz Yelling, Olympic marathon runner
  • Top-notch fundraising advice  from a dedicated team at the NSPCC
  • A dedicated runners Facebook page to chat to your team mates
  • A fundraising pack, regular e-newsletters and a support hotline
  • An exclusive running vest with your name across the front
  • Support on the day with cheering squads along the route and refreshments at the finish in our charity marquee
