Virgin London Marathon
Date of event: 22 April 2012
Each year, thousands of people from across the UK come together to be part of teamGO, the NSPCC's London Marathon running team, raising vital funds for vulnerable children in the UK.
Run for the NSPCC
You can join our team in two ways:
Run using your own place
If you have successfully applied for a place through the London Marathon ballot, congratulations! We would love you to join the NSPCC's team and help us raise over £1 million for ChildLine. Simply fill out our online registration form - there's no minimum sponsorship, and we'll give you full support throughout your training.
Apply for an NSPCC charity place
We have now filled all of our charity places, however you can still be in with a chance of getting a place by joining our waiting list, in case of cancellations.
Simply fill out our waiting list application form and we'll get in touch if a space becomes available. We ask that you commit to raising a minimum sponsorship of £2,000 for ChildLine, and we will confirm if you have a place by February 2012. We'll need a £100 registration fee in order to confirm the place.
Looking for a place for the 2013 race?
We will begin accepting applications for the 2013 Marathon in late April. To register your interest, please email gomarathon@nspcc.org.uk with your name, address and contact details, and we'll let you know when applications open.
Our support
As part of the NSPCC team, you will receive full support throughout your marathon journey, including:
- an exclusive training day with Olympic athlete Liz Yelling
- comprehensive training plans for all levels of experience
- a teamGO marathon training diary to keep track of your progress
- a dedicated London Marathon team at the NSPCC, on hand with first class fundraising support
- a huge team of NSPCC supporters cheering you on along the route
- a well deserved massage and refreshments soon after you've crossed the finish line.
Testimonials from past runners
Don't take our word for it, here's what London Marathon runner, Chris Cogan, said of our support:
"I'm so glad I didn't do my marathon alone, I was part of something amazing. From signing up to completing the Marathon, teamGO has been there all the way, helping with my training, and encouraging me to carry on - they really kept me going!"
