Your NSPCC teamGO stories
Everyone who has joined teamGO, whether they're running or skydiving, has a story to tell. Here are just a few:
Dinesha's story
I decided to run the London Marathon as part of a personal journey.
Having experienced abuse as a child, it meant a lot to me to find a challenge to make my own. It was just as important to raise funds for a charity that I could trust. That's why I ran for the NSPCC.
The 2009 London Marathon was one of the best days of my life. I will never forget the crowds chanting my name, the exhilaration I felt during the last mile and the fantastic support I received from my fellow NSPCC teamGO runners along the route.
I cried with joy when I crossed the finish line.
NSPCC teamGO were so supportive every step of the way. I knew I could call them for fundraising or training advice. Every time it felt too cold to get out on the road for a long run, I thought about the children who were depending on me. And it's a real privilege to know that I made a difference.
Phil Packer's story
Phil is the NSPCC's inspirational teamGO Patron
As Patron of the NSPCC teamGO, I have been privileged to see the work of ChildLine and the NSPCC. Their local services focus on the most acute forms of abuse and the most vulnerable, highest risk children.
The NSPCC work in areas such as sexual abuse or children under one so that they can bring help, advice and treatment to children at risk or those who have been abused. Through these services they demonstrate the most innovative and effective solutions and then campaign for these services to be adopted UK wide.
All funds raised by being a member of the NSPCC's teamGO will go to help ChildLine counsel more children and the NSPCC Helpline to respond to calls from public concerned about a child's welfare.
If you have a story you'd like to share with us, we'd love to hear from you! Just email us at teamgo@nspcc.org.uk with 'My story' in the subject line.
