Become a ChildLine switchboard volunteer
Volunteer switchboard operators are the first point of contact when a young caller rings ChildLine. As a switchboard operator, you will be the first person to help calm the young caller and reassure them that they can speak to someone who can help.
What’s involved?
You will greet the caller and put their call into a queue to be answered by a volunteer counsellor.
To become a switchboard volunteer you’ll need:
- a training session, plus assessment on your first shift
- to commit to 70 hours every year
- a supervision session once every three months.
