Help in schools

Volunteer and work with children

In the future you will be able to volunteer to help our Schools Service and work face-to-face with children and young people to spread awareness of the NSPCC and our ChildLine service.

How it works

Our Schools Service works in places like schools and youth clubs. It helps children understand how to recognise all forms of abuse, how to protect themselves and where to get help.

We also work in centres for children who cannot or will not attend school as well as youth assessment and custody centres.

Our future plans

The majority of ChildLine's callers are children over the age of eleven years old. Younger children may not have an understanding or awareness of abuse or the support available to them to know how and when to seek help. We need a way to reach out to younger children and those who do not have access to technology to ensure they have an understanding of abuse, of how to protect themselves and how to access help through ChildLine and other sources.

We believe that reaching such children will be easiest in a school setting, aimed at primary school children. The proposed new schools service will eventually help every child in the UK to know how to protect themselves and where to go for help when they need it. Our aim is to deliver services regularly in all primary schools in the UK.

Volunteering opportunities will become available in the future and we will update this page regularly as we progress.
