Here to listen, whatever the problem

Every day, thousands of children and young people need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face.

We want to ensure that every child gets the help they need. However, to do that, we must answer more calls. The reality is that ChildLine can only answer two-thirds of the 2.3 million calls it receives each year.

Every time a caller doesn't speak to one of our counsellors, a child's safety may be at risk. But you can make sure more calls are answered by supporting the Child's Voice Appeal.

ChildLine operates out of 15 counselling centres around the UK, including a brand new centre which opened in Edinburgh on 23 September and a new centre will be opening in Newcastle by 2010.

Children's calls go through to the nearest centre but during out-of-hours, these calls are diverted to the London centre, which operates a 24-hour service. London is the largest counselling centre, although a child can call ChildLine from anywhere in the UK .

We believe that over half a million children called ChildLine last year, many calling more than once.  We have trained volunteer counsellors who take calls from children within their local area and comfort, advise and protect children and young people who call with a range of problems, the most common issues that children call us about are bullying, abuse (physical, sexual, emotional), and family relationship issues.

Your support could help more children like Peter find someone to turn to, anytime.
