Internet Safety

Nearly 30,000 supported the Safety.Net campaign – thank you!

The NSPCC Safety.Net campaign called on Prime Minister Gordon Brown to make the internet safer for children. A petition containing nearly 30,000 names was handed in to Downing Street on 20 January by musician and chef, Levi Roots.

Levi, who braved the soggy London weather to come and support the campaign said: "I am really pleased to help the NSPCC deliver this petition to Downing Street. The internet should be a place for children to have fun but be safe."

Thank you to everyone who added their support.

The Safety.Net campaign called for sharing of child abuse images to be blocked, and for children who have been abused and had pictures or films of this abuse appear on the internet, to receive care and support.    Read more about the campaign .

Diana Sutton, head of public affairs and campaigns, said: "We want to ensure children are able to get the most from the internet without stumbling into areas which might harm them."
