The Cotswolds fundraising branch of the NSPCC held its 'Posh' Car Boot sale (relocated due to the weather conditions) at Chedworth Aerodrome on Sunday 21 September 2008.

Invitations were sent to owners of the most important houses in the Cotswolds; royalty, landed gentry, celebrities and other prestigious people. They emptied their attics and cellars of antiques to fill their car boots. 

The event was a huge success, so far raising approximately £29,000! 


Some of the highlights included:

  • Live music from The Occasionally Big Band, including rock, pop and jazz
  • Music from the Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, the county's leading youth jazz ensemble, playing a variety of jazz, including modern jazz compositions
  • Famous French Magician - a performance from international magician Nicholas Clement (pictured)
  • Marquee of new, nearly new, designer and vintage ladies' clothes, including accessories from Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Dolce & Gabana, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Jean Muir and others
  • Marquee of jewellery, objets d'art, bags, hats and belts
  • Bar
  • Farmer's market
  • Interesting and unusual plants and garden accessories
  • Interior design end of lines
  • Luxury tombola
  • Children's tombola
  • Bottle tombola
  • Delicious food stalls

Auction of celebrity-owned items

Moore Allen and Innocent hosted a special auction of celebrity memorabilia donated by a myriad of generous celebrities. Guests were able to leave a silent bid during the build-up to the event with the final auction taking place at the Country House Car Boot Sale on 21 September. The available lots were listed on www.mooreallen.co.uk .

The auction continues online until 8pm on 14 October at Buy Once Give Twice.

  • Anne 'Weakest Link' Robinson's trademark specs
  • David Cameron’s signed cycling helmet
  • Jonjo O’Neill’s signed racing silks
  • Bargain Hunt's Tim Wonnacott's 'readers' (ie glasses!)
  • Jewellery worn by ChildLine founder and TV personality Esther Rantzen
  • Antony Worrall Thompson’s signed whites
  • Signed copy of one of Jilly Cooper's raunchy novels
  • Signed copy of Pru Leith’s Cookery Bible
  • An outrageous suit from risque comedian Julian Clary, plus a copy of his novel signed by him and his Mum
  • Tim Wonacott’s silly spectacles and bowtie
  • Lewis Hamilton’s signed baseball cap
  • Tasty cheese from Blur star Alex James's farm
  • House of Commons playing card and signed photo from Nick Clegg
  • An 'Alice in Wonderland' plate from Fiona Fullerton with a signed photograph of Fiona as Alice back in 1972!
  • One of Liz Hurley's posh frocks

All proceeds raised will go to the NSPCC. No commision charged.
