Date of event: 31 August 2008
Venue: Molesey Lock near Hampton Court
Time: 12.20pm
The NSPCC has been chosen as one of the three lead charities for this year's Great British Duck Race!
The Great British Duck Race on 31 August 2008 will see the existing record blown out of the water, with 250,000 ducks being released into the Thames to race for the first prize of £10,000.
At 12.20pm on "Duck Day", the ducks will be dropped into Molesey Lock near Hampton Court. The race will begin at 1.30pm and will take around two hours. The ducks will be carried by the current to the finish line at Albany Reach, where the winning duck will be announced, giving the owner the chance to win the £10,000 prize money!
There will be entertainment, charity stands and refreshments served along the course near Hampton Court, so why not come along to cheer on your duck and have a quacking good time!
Adopt a duck
By adopting a duck, you will be helping the NSPCC to end cruelty to children.
If your company or school is interested in selling ducks on behalf of the NSPCC, please contact Danny Crabb on 0207 596 3724 or email dcrabb@nspcc.org.uk.
The Duck Race is working in close partnership with the River Thames Alliance and the Environment Agency to ensure that every plastic duck is removed from the Thames on completion of the race and then recycled or reused. For more information, please visit www.thegreatbritishduckrace.co.uk.
