Scary Sleepover

Spend a hair-raising night at Nottingham Castle

Date of event:  22 February 2008

Event end date:  23 February 2008

Venue:  Nottingham Castle

Nottingham Castle

Nottingham Castle - renowned for the 'haunted' caves underneath the building - is holding a special supernatural sleepover on Friday 22 February 2008, to raise vital funds for ChildLine - the free, 24 hour helpline for children and young people in danger or distress.

The intrepid 'ghostbusters' will be sponsored to spend a nerve-tingling night in the creepy caves and the castle itself.
Lucy Young, Community Fundraising Manager for ChildLine Midlands, says: "It'll be a great night, especially as the money we raise will go to a really good cause - to help ChildLine answer more calls from children in the area."

But be warned...
Volunteers enter at their own risk – as well as the other lost souls that haunt the castle itself, under the building, carved into the sandstone outcrop on which the castle stands, is the famous tunnel known as Mortimer's Hole.
The passage way is eerie enough but is made all the more so by the reputed presence of the ghost of Sir Roger Mortimer himself, who was tortured before being hanged, drawn and quartered on 29 November 1330.
