Event end date: 20 March 2009
Hired! is a brand new charity fundraising challenge for students, supported by Amazon, with the opportunity to present in front of our panel of celebrity experts and win a host of career-enhancing prizes.
During the January 2009 term, student volunteers (in teams of up to four people) can pit their business savvy against other student teams from the top universities across the UK, by putting on a unique fundraising event for charity or devising and marketing a brand new product.

The money raised from this initiative will go towards the Child's Voice Appeal
Short-listed student teams will pitch to our panel of experts including Esther Rantzen CBE, Michelle Dewberry, winner of The Apprentice 2006 and Brian McBride, MD of Amazon.co.uk, who will choose a winning team to bag two weeks' work experience at Amazon plus other fantastic prizes.
The Big Idea could replace or complement coursework, making it easy to incorporate into busy schedules. It is simple to organise and the Student Team at the NSPCC will support each team with help, advice and materials.
For more information please download the Hired! Student Apprentice Challenge guide.

The Panel
"Within the challenge, the students can use their creativity to pioneer new ways of marketing an event or product of their devising. This offers them an unrivalled opportunity to create something innovative and practical in their university career increasing their employment prospects whilst raising funds to help the NSPCC stop cruelty to children."
- Michelle Dewberry
Winner of The Apprentice 2006
"Amazon.co.uk is very happy to support the NSPCC and this fantastic new and innovative fundraising challenge aimed at university students. Hired! represents an exciting opportunity for the students to showcase their skills and creativity and to gain valuable experience of event or product management, marketing and working in a team. I am delighted to sit on the panel of experts and am looking forward to judging the entries."
- Brian McBride

"This is a brilliant idea. So many positive aspects; for the students involved, for ChildLine, and for the companies who will be able to select the most creative, energetic and enthusiastic students in the competition. So good luck to everyone and thank you for your participation."
