Hired!

The Student Apprentice Team Challenge 2009

Date of event:  12 January 2009

Event end date:  20 March 2009

Hired! is a brand new charity fundraising challenge for students, supported by Amazon, with the opportunity to present in front of our panel of celebrity experts and win a host of career-enhancing prizes.

During the January 2009 term, student volunteers (in teams of up to four people) can pit their business savvy against other student teams from the top universities across the UK, by putting on a unique fundraising event for charity or devising and marketing a brand new product.

The money raised from this initiative will go towards the Child's Voice Appeal

Short-listed student teams will pitch to our panel of experts including Esther Rantzen CBE, Michelle Dewberry, winner of The Apprentice 2006 and Brian McBride, MD of Amazon.co.uk, who will choose a winning team to bag two weeks' work experience at Amazon plus other fantastic prizes.

The Big Idea could replace or complement coursework, making it easy to incorporate into busy schedules. It is simple to organise and the Student Team at the NSPCC will support each team with help, advice and materials.

For more information please download the Hired! Student Apprentice Challenge  guide.

Tutors and students can register here from 1 September - 12 December 2008.

Students can win:

  • Two weeks' work experience at Amazon plus other fantastic prizes for the winning team.
  • iPod shuffles for the runners-up donated by Lloyds TSB
  • Participation prizes for everyone taking part
  • Further prizes to be announced

And gain:

  • An invaluable entry on their CV
  • The opportunity to showcase their talents to our judging panel of experts from companies including Amazon
  • Priority status in the selection process for graduate recruitment schemes and internship programmes at selected companies supporting the challenge
  • Kudos for their team and the university by taking part in this brilliant challenge

All personal data submitted by the students will be used by the NSPCC, Amazon and other sponsors for the purposes of judging this competition and may also be used to consider you for graduate recruitment positions.

All participating students must be 18 years or over and in higher or further education currently.
