What is Facebook?

Facebook has dominated newspapers and dinner table conversations for the past year and if you haven’t yet heard of it (or been poked, received a flower, cast a spell or become a pirate), you must be living on another planet.

It’s a social network site, which means it’s a place where you can connect with your friends and colleagues in one place. You can post messages, pictures and connect with (long lost and distant) friends. You can write on a friend’s ‘wall’ or send private messages or give virtual ‘gifts’. You can even “poke” your friends (similar to a cyber nudge).

Already totalling a record-breaking 140 million users worldwide, the opportunities to connect with NSPCC supporters, are incredible.

Recruit new NSPCC supporters

The fantastic viral abilities of Facebook make it an essential tool for recruiting new supporters. If you're putting on a fundraising event, or selling goods on eBay you can use Facebook to shout about it and let all your friends know.
