Morrisons Charity of the Year 2008-09

This year, staff at Morrisons have chosen to support both ChildLine and Help the Aged, who have teamed up to combat abuse and neglect among the younger and older generations.

Together, ChildLine and Help the Aged will have an even bigger impact in preventing and reducing the torment suffered by millions of vulnerable children and older people in our society.

Esther Rantzen CBE, founder and president of ChildLine and ambassador for Help the Aged Work, said: "I am delighted that Morrisons have chosen ChildLine and Help the Aged as their joint charity partners."

"With the support of Morrisons, ChildLine and Help the Aged will be able to help thousands of children and older people who may be in pain or distress. To those who need help, these two organisations provide a lifeline and by working together we can take another step closer to making these problems a thing of the past."

Sir Ken Morrison said: "It’s tremendous to be working for such a great cause. Our choices for Charity of the Year have generated great sympathy from our colleagues. In addition to a wide range of staff fundraising activity, we will be introducing many events and special products to our stores over the coming months and we call on our generous customers to offer their support in our aim to raise £1.5 million."
