Volunteers are the heart of ChildLine’s service.

We urgently need more volunteers to speak to children and young people on our helpline, work with them in schools, and to support our fundraising, administration and management. We provide full training and support.

Currently, we can only answer two-thirds of the 2.3 million calls we receive each year. We’ve launched the Child’s Voice Appeal to help recruit enough volunteers to ensure every child’s call for help is heard.

Find out about being:

  • a volunteer counsellor (based at counselling centres in London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, Swansea, Rhyl, Leeds, Belfast, Exeter or Birmingham).
  • an admin volunteer (based at counselling centres in London, Nottingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, Swansea, Rhyl, Leeds, Belfast, Exeter or Birmingham).
