Switchboard volunteers

What ever you do, you could do this too

ChildLine is always looking for committed Switchboard Volunteers to help us support the work of our telephone counsellors and ensure that children across the UK always have a safe place to turn.

ChildLine aims to answer every call made by a child or young person to our service. In order to achieve this aim we need volunteer switchboarders to answer calls.

Switchboarding volunteers will be expected to:

be warm and patient
be non-judgemental and respectful
provide callers with additional resources
put callers through to counsellors.

Successful applicants will take part in an intensive three-hour training session and will be expected to work one shift a week of at least half and hour.
